1. Nursing Pillow
When you first come home from the hospital, you will need to get for your first baby, a comfy nursing pillow. It is crucial in helping with your nursing experience. If you are planning on breastfeeding, you are definitely going to want to prepare yourself to get comfortable! Easing your back, and upper body pain is key when you are learning which positions are comfortable for you and your baby. The great thing about this nursing pillow, is it can also be used for bottle feeding, and for tummy time when you are little one grows! Check out this article that talks about the benefits of breastfeeding, and how to stay committed!
2. Swaddles
Let me tell you, if you don’t have swaddles for your first baby, you need to get or order them NOW! Swaddles are key to getting your baby to sleep, and stay asleep! This was a difficult lesson that I learned with mistakes we made trying to get our son to sleep. You can read more about how to get your baby to sleep, but our biggest mistake was not swaddling. The best thing about these swaddles is it keeps your babies hips in the right position, keeps their arms in an ideal and comfortable position, and has a diaper changing pouch! You have no idea how the diaper changing pouch will literally change your life.
3. Baby Carrier
Baby carriers are great for so many reasons. One big reason is, you will have arms again! There are so many things you can do around the house while your little one gets to see a new perspective hanging out so high! I love this baby carrier because you can use it in so many different positions. Front facing, rear facing, and on your back! It is so versatile, and your little one will love all the different positions. This one is also great because it has lumbar support. Most other baby carriers will start to hurt your lower back in under 15 minutes. It also has a privacy hood that is UPF 50. This has you covered in every way! You definitely need this for your first baby.
4. Wrap
My baby wrap was absolutely crucial in my sons first few months. This was absolutely a need to get for my first baby. The amazing thing about a baby wrap is it holds your baby so close, they feel like they are still in the womb. It completely cocoons them and keeps them snug (which is what they are used to)! A wrap has all the same benefits of a baby carrier, but is more lightweight (like wearing a large shawl), and is better for when your baby is a newborn.
5. Compact stroller
If you live in (or near) a city like we do, you need a compact stroller! Maneuvering in and out of stores, and public transportation is not fun when you have a huge clunky stroller! This compact stroller is affordable, gives your baby the comfort they need, is usable from 3 months to 50 pounds, and it only weighs 15 pounds! That is literally insane!
6. Car seat/stroller combo
This stroller is by far the best stroller on the market. You are definitely going to need this for your first baby. It has a bassinet, car seat (we used until our son was 1), and toddler seat. The portability, durability, and ease of use is unlike anything else out there. You can snap the car seat on and off the stroller, and to your car in less than a second. It is super safe and comfy, and if you are a walker like me, it can handle miles a day! This is one of my favorite baby registry items!
I promise you these are crucial items you need to get for your first baby!
